Auditions for 'Honk!' Planned
Children and adults interested in appearing in this summer's Fairmont State Town &
Gown theatre performance of "Honk!" can attend auditions.
"Honk!," a musical story of the "ugly duckling," will be performed June 10, 11, 12,
16, 17 and 18 at Fairmont State. Dr. Fran Kirk will direct the production with Dr.
Steve Johnson serving as musical director.
The cast calls for eight men, eight women, six children to play the ducklings and
a chorus of about 20 actors from ages 8 to adult who will play barnyard animals, fish
and "froglets." The chorus will be in at least seven musical numbers. Children wishing
to audition must be at least 8 years old, have finished the second grade and be able
to read fluently. Members of the chorus will be asked to purchase some costume items.
Auditions will be held Monday, March 28, in Room 229 of Wallman Hall and Tuesday,
March 29, in Room 236 of Wallman Hall. Auditions will be conducted between 6 p.m.
and 9:30 p.m. Those wishing to audition should call in advance to reserve an audition
time. The time slots will run in half hour increments, giving each person about three
minutes for an audition. Those auditioning should bring an "up tempo song" with sheet
music and a resume if they have one. No recordings are allowed.
To reserve an audition time, call Dr. Fran Kirk at (304) 367-4170 or e-mail her at
fkirk@fairmontstate.edu beginning on Monday, March 21. (Kirk will be out of the office March 14-18 because
FS is on Spring Break.) Those leaving a message should leave their name, phone number,
audition date and preferred audition time (on the half hour).
Rehearsals will begin Monday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 229 of Wallman Hall.
There will be five rehearsals per week with most beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will
be extra rehearsal times for children.
