"Sexpectations" Event on Sept. 7 to Focus on Sexual Assault Awareness

Sep 07, 2011

The Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College Offices of Student Affairs and Office of Residence Life will host a “Sexpectations” sexual assault awareness event from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7.

The event is being hosted in partnership with Fairmont General Hospital and Hope Inc.

FSU and Pierpont students are encouraged to attend and should meet in Prichard Hall lobby at 6 p.m. In addition to information about sexual assault awareness, the event will feature games with prizes and refreshments.

“The ultimate goal of programs such as ‘Sexpectations’ is to educate Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College students. Our aim is to equip our female, as well as male, students to better enable them to make informed decisions. We, as institutions, are making every effort to bring the issue of sexual assault prevention to the forefront. If our students are able to discuss life-changing events such as these in an informative, open and positive setting, perhaps we can positively impact the problem of sexual assault,” said Yolanda Kirchartz, Director of Health Services. “We are delighted that Fairmont General Hospital, Hope, Inc, and local law enforcement agencies share the concern for our students and are willing partners with us in the endeavor.”
