Kinty Appointed to Serve on Fairmont State University Board of Governors

Fairmont State alumna, Jennifer Kinty, has been appointed to serve on the University’s Board of Governors through June 30, 2025. Kinty has longstanding ties with the University, and previously served as the Fairmont State Foundation Board of Directors Chairwoman.

“Jennifer is a dear member of our Falcon Family,” said Mirta M. Martin, Fairmont State University President. “We are ever grateful for her contributions and service to the University throughout the years, and we look forward to welcoming her as she begins her term appointment on our Board of Governors.” 

Jennifer Kinty is a West Virginia native, a coal miner’s daughter and a first-generation higher education graduate. She has held several positions throughout her career ranging from staff accounting and compliance roles to regional leadership positions across small and large institutions.

Kinty currently serves as the Market President of Summit Community Bank in Morgantown, beginning her tenure in 2020. She previously held leadership roles as the Community President and Senior Vice President of Commercial Middle Market Banking at Huntington National Banks and Community President and Senior Vice President Business Banking Area Manager at JP Morgan Chase. Kinty has attended and participated in several banking educational programs and schools, including the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer as she begins her term on the Board,” said David Goldberg, Fairmont State University Board of Governors Chairman. “Her leadership on our Foundation Board of Directors has proven to be invaluable to the University community and we look forward to working alongside her as she continues to make a profound impact on our Institution and region.”

Kinty has a strong passion for service and her volunteer organizations have included Habitat for Humanity, the United Way, WV Independent Colleges and Universities, Natural Capital Investment Fund, the Fairmont State Foundation, the Hopewell United Methodist Church and local chambers of commerce.

Kinty is a 1985 graduate of the Fairmont State College of Business and Aviation with a degree in accounting and a minor in banking. She resides in Fairmont with her husband Scott, also a first-generation Fairmont State graduate.

“Fairmont State has had a tremendous impact on my life,” Kinty said. “The education I received has played a key role in my successes in my career and my life, and I’m thrilled to continue serving the University in this capacity.”

In addition to Kinty’s appointment to the Fairmont State University Board of Governors, Vice-Chairman, Rusty Hutson Jr. will continue his tenure on the Board, receiving a reappointment through June 30, 2025.
