Fairmont State University Football Releases 2023 Matchups
Fairmont State University football has unveiled the schedule that will be played in the fall of 2023. The schedule includes 11 games with 10 Mountain East Conference contests.
Game times and Thursday night schedules have not been finalized by the MEC and will be announced at a later date.
The Fighting Falcons will kick off the season on Thursday, August 31 with a non-conference matchup versus Bloomsburg at Duvall-Rosier Field. Fairmont State begins MEC play with a week two matchup at West Liberty.
The first home conference game for Fairmont State will be in week three versus Wheeling. The Fighting Falcons will travel to the defending MEC Champions, Notre Dame (Ohio), in week four.
The 2023 homecoming football game will be played on Sept. 30 versus Alderson Broaddus. The Falcons will host Concord in week six.
Fairmont State will make the trip to Pembroke, N.C. in week seven to battle UNC Pembroke. The Falcons defeated the Braves 25-23 in a thrilling homecoming game last season. The Fighting Falcons return to Fairmont in week eight and will face the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State.
Two of the final three Fairmont State football games on the schedule will be played on the road. The Falcons are set to face Charleston in week nine before visiting Buckhannon to meet West Virginia Wesleyan in week 10. Fairmont State and WVWC have not played each other since the 2019 season. The 2023 regular season concludes with a week 11 home matchup versus Frostburg State.
