Music Faculty Member's Work Has World Premiere

Mar 15, 2016

On Wednesday, March 9, Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts faculty member Dr. Daniel Eichenbaum attended the world premiere of his new work, “Concertino for Trumpet and Wind Ensemble” (“Aaron”).

The work was performed by the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) wind ensemble with Dr. Lisa Blackmore, soloist, and Gary Brandes, conducting. Commissioned by UMSL, Eichenbaum subtitled the piece in honor of his son, Aaron, whose birth coincided with the work’s creation. While in residence at UMSL, Eichenbaum gave two master class presentations to the UMSL students. His first presentation was a discussion of the newly commissioned Concertino and the second was a live computer music technology demonstration. Future performances of the Concertino are being planned.
