Over 250 visitors welcomed to campus for Fairmont State’s Maroon & White Day
Over 250 attendees arrived on Fairmont State University’s campus on Saturday, October 14 for Maroon & White Day. Maroon & White Day is a campus-wide open house that allows prospective students to thoroughly learn about Fairmont State’s offerings.
“Fairmont State has so much to offer students and Maroon & White Day is designed so that students get an in-depth look at what it’s like to attend Fairmont State,” said Interim Vice President of Student Success Alicia Kalka. “We want students to get to know our incredible academic programs, our beautiful and cozy campus, and all of the fun and remarkable things that happen at Fairmont State.”
To kick off Maroon & White Day students heard opening remarks from Fairmont State President Mike Davis and each of the College Deans, who discussed the features of their respective colleges. President Davis highlighted what he has learned about the University since becoming its President in July.
“When I started looking for a place where I wanted to be president I was looking for a place where human connections and relationships were built in,” said Davis. “I wanted to be at a university where connection is baked into its DNA, and I can tell you right now with Fairmont State that is absolutely the case.”
After the opening remarks, those in attendance listened to a Fairmont State Q&A session that featured a panel of current students and staff. Those on the panel each answered multiple student questions pertaining to Fairmont State.
Once the Q&A concluded, attendees were dismissed to attend the activities of their choosing. They had the option to attend one of many information sessions, campus tours, an Academic Fair and more.
Those who were unable to make it to this semester’s Maroon & White Day still have the opportunity to tour campus and get their college-related questions answered by scheduling a visit through the Office of Admissions. Those interested in scheduling a visit can do so by visiting the admissions homepage or by contacting the Office of Admissions directly at (304) 367-4010 or at admit@FairmontState.edu.
