Luke Elam crowned by President Davis

Fairmont State’s newest Homecoming Royalty winners were announced during the 2023 Homecoming football game on September 30. Seniors Luke Elam and Kaden Suplita were selected as Homecoming Royalty by their peers and crowned during halftime by President Mike Davis on Duvall-Rosier Field.

Luke Elam was sponsored for Homecoming court by his fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi. He is a music education major who also serves as a drum major in the Fighting Falcons Marching band. Elam describes himself as a true Falcon no matter where he is and is proud to be a representation of the Fighting Falcon spirit. He was escorted on the field by his mother and Fairmont State Alumni Vicki Elam.

“I am so elated to be Homecoming Royalty and I am so happy to have my mother alongside me,” said Elam. “This is a dream come true.”

Kaden Statler was sponsored by Fairmont State Falcon Surveyors and is a Surveying and Geomatics EngineeringStatler crowned by Mike Davis Technology major. Statler enjoys the close-knit community of Fairmont State and says his favorite thing about campus is the architecture of Hardway Hall and the view of the historic building from Locust Avenue. He was escorted on the field by fellow Fairmont State student Kristi Daetwyler.

“I am so happy Fairmont State Falcon Surveyors nominated me and chose me to represent them,” said Statler. “I am overjoyed to be Homecoming Royalty.”

The crowning of Elam and Statler was preceded by several other Homecoming weekend events, which included the annual Homecoming Parade and Homecoming bonfire, the Alumni and Emeritus Luncheon, the Hall of Fame dinner, and the Alumni Tailgate amongst others.

After halftime, the Fairmont State football team finished out their game against Post University and won 59-14. The men’s and women’s tennis teams also brought home several victories during the weekend tournament.
