Fairmont State to host prospective students at Appalachian Power Park event
On Friday, September 15 Fairmont State University will host the prospective Falcons at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston for Fairmont State Night at Power Park. This is the third year in a row the event has been held, and will be Fairmont State University President Mike Davis’s first time attending after he took on Fairmont State’s leadership role in July.
“My family and I are excited about our first visit to Power Park and the opportunity to engage prospective students from across the state,” said Davis. “Fairmont State University is ready to serve all of the citizens of West Virginia and we cannot wait to share everything that we have to offer those interested in finding their new opportunity.”
During the event, students will not only get to see the Charleston Dirty Birds go head-to-head against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs, but they’ll also have the chance to network with their peers and speak with alumni about their Fairmont State experience. A fireworks show will also take place during the event for spectators to enjoy.
Director of Admissions Summer Boggess describes the importance of hosting events like this within communities outside of Fairmont.
“As a West Virginia institution, we feel it is important to engage with students across the state and educate them about their options when it comes to higher education,” said Boggess. “Taking those first steps in your college journey can be a nerve-wracking thing for high school students, so having events like Fairmont State Night at Power Park where students can engage with us in a fun and laid-back atmosphere is very necessary.”
Those in attendance will have ample opportunities to speak with Fairmont State representatives about topics such as financial aid, admissions, housing and other Fairmont State-related topics so that they are prepared to take on their new journey as college freshmen in the fall of 2024.
The game will begin at 6:35 p.m. and is free for students and one guest to attend.
