Fairmont State to Hold 152nd Commencement Ceremonies in Feaster Center
Fairmont State University will honor graduates as part of the 152nd Commencement on Saturday, November 20. The University will celebrate graduating students from each of its five colleges during two separate Fall Commencement Ceremonies taking place in the Feaster Center on campus.
The Fall Commencement Ceremonies will take place as follows:
- College of Liberal Arts and College of Business & Aviation – 10 a.m.
- College of Nursing, College of Education, Health & Human Performance, College of Science & Technology and Regents Bachelor of Arts – 2 p.m.
West Virginia Auditor, John B. “JB” McCuskey will join the University’s platform party to provide the keynote address at each of the ceremonies.
“I am so happy to have John McCuskey deliver the keynote address and inspire our newest Falcon alumni,” said Fairmont State University President, Mirta M. Martin. “JB is such a great guy – he is dedicated to public service and to the people of West Virginia, he is passionate about supporting education, and he is a very dear friend of the Falcon Family.”
Each graduate that has registered to participate in Fall Commencement will receive four guest tickets. All guests in attendance must have a ticket and follow COVID-19 protocols, including the wearing of a mask. The University will livestream each of the ceremonies, allowing those unable to attend to join virtually in real-time. Each ceremony will be available for viewing at www.fairmontstate.edu/celebrate.
The Department of Public Safety and Physical Plant will re-route traffic on Saturday, November 20, allowing vehicles to enter campus only from the Squibb Wilson Boulevard entrance to ensure smooth traffic patterns. Officers and other attendants will be on hand to direct traffic and answer parking questions. Shuttle services will be available on campus, beginning pick-ups one hour prior to each ceremony.
All graduates, university guests and the community should expect traffic pattern and parking changes on and surrounding campus areas. Those attending Commencement exercises are asked to remain patient when arriving on campus, as multiple ceremonies will be occurring throughout the day. Guests and graduates should consider carpooling when possible.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to resume traditional in-person Commencement Ceremonies,” said Fairmont State Chief of Police and Director of Emergency Management, Matt Swain. “These events have been modified so that we may gather safely, and we thank our graduates, university guests and surrounding communities as we work to ensure our ceremonies are executed successfully. We appreciate your attention to the changes set in place by our Department of Public Safety and Physical Plant.”
Commencement details will continue to be available at www.fairmontstate.edu/commencement.
