Fairmont State Extends Suspension of ACT/SAT Admissions Requirements

Sep 23, 2021

Students interested in attending Fairmont State University between now and the fall 2022 term are eligible to apply for admission without submitting an ACT or SAT score. Fairmont State announced the testing requirement waiver last fall due to situations related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the University will continue to honor this admissions policy through the next enrollment cycle.

"Fairmont State University continues to rise to the challenge, and help students overcome hardships presented by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Fairmont State University President, Mirta M. Martin. “We must, and will, continue to educate the work-force for the next generation. We will do all we can to remove barriers to getting the education our future students need to achieve their goals.”

The suspension of testing requirements will be in effect for the second seven-week term of the fall 2021 semester, the 2021 winter term and both the spring and fall 2022 terms. The TEAS exam will still be required for students applying for admission to the College of Nursing.

“Fairmont State University is a student first institution and we will continue to keep our students’ best interests at the forefront,” said Fairmont State University Vice President for Student Success, Ken Fettig. “The suspension of the ACT and SAT testing requirement further demonstrates the University’s commitment to student success. We support our students throughout their entire college journey, including the application process.”

The fall 2021 second seven-week term begins on Wednesday, September 29. To apply for admission, visit www.fairmontstate.edu/apply
