The Frank and Jane Gabor WV Folklife Center Presents Online Author Series
The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center is pleased to present the Phyllis Wilson Moore Online Author Series. Phyllis Moore is a graduate of Fairmont State College, a nurse, a poet, and the creator of the West Virginia Literary Map. Mrs. Moore donated her research about West Virginia authors to Fairmont State University, and The Phyllis Wilson Moore West Virginia Authors Archive is now housed at the Folklife Center and is available to student and faculty researchers. The online series is free and available to the public through Cisco WebEx. The series will feature the following authors.
On Wednesday, September 16 at 7p.m., Dr. Cicero Fain, the author of “Black Huntington: An Appalachian Story”, will launch the series. Dr. Fain will be talking about his work, reading several passages from his book “Black Huntington: An Appalachian Story”, and taking questions from the online audience. On Wednesday, September 30, at 7p.m., Dr. Proudfoot will be talking about her work, reading several passages from her book “Goshen Road: A Novel”, published by Ohio University’s Swallow Press, and taking questions from the online audience. Finally, on Wednesday, October 14, at 7p.m., Burnis Morris, the author “Carter G. Woodson: History, The Black Press, and Public Relations”, will present his work to the online audience.
