Fairmont State graduate has Disney inspired works published online

Sep 17, 2020

Fairmont State alumna and professional artist, Kylee Shingleton, recently had her Disney inspired artwork shared and featured across multiple sources including, “Inside The Magic” which is a focused source for unique entertainment experiences and covers theme parks, movies, TV, video games, conventions, special events, and much more.

West Virginia native, Ms. Shingleton, graduated from Fairmont State in 2019 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art. She started drawing when she was only two years old. Having been deeply moved by the wonderful world of Disney, Ms. Shingleton seeks to create artwork that reflects the same themes and style that makes Disney’s vast media library appeal to all generations. Her work has been described as fresh, lively, and cheerful.

“I have always been a passionate Disney fan and avid artist for as long as I can remember. I have always been inspired by my supportive and loving family, my own determination, my deep appreciation for Disney films and characters, and now a large part of my inspiration stems from my own daughter. My personal philosophy is to always be a better artist than I was yesterday,” said Ms. Shingleton. “I’d like to say that my time at Fairmont State helped prepare me to pursue an art career. A few of my art professors told me that out of all the art students they had seen, I was the one that had come so close and that they knew I could make it. I’m still on my journey to my career but without the art department critiques, being ok with going back to the drawing board over and over, healthy self-criticism, the extra time put in, everything - I really don’t think I would be where I’m at now. The encouragement from my professors and the discouragement from some others helped fuel my determination to be the first Disney artist from West Virginia.”

Ms. Shingleton’s work has also been featured by Freeform’s 30 Days of Disney and 31 Nights of Halloween celebrations. You can view more of Ms. Shingleton’s artwork by visiting her portfolio pages set up on Instagram @enchantedartbykylee or by vising Enchanted Art by Kylee on Facebook.
