Fairmont State Day to be held Oct. 25th
Fairmont State University is happy to be hosting Fairmont State Day on Friday, October 25th, in conjunction with the Marion County Schools. All community members, alumni, and students are encouraged to participate.
“Our Falcon Family is strong in Marion County and that support extends into our local schools,” said Jessie Sharps, Homecoming Committee Chair. “Many county administrators, teachers and student teachers are Fairmont State alumni or current students. It is such a natural fit to take that support and show it in a county wide Fairmont State Day.”
Marion County Superintendent Randy Farley said participating is just another way to strengthen the county’s relationship with the University.
“We are always looking for ways to increase collaboration between Marion County Schools and Fairmont State University,” he said. "We have always tried to have agreements and help each other because you all are providing our students with that post-secondary education and sometimes in return they come back to us as an employee. We like to always build the relationship to help each other because it’s beneficial to both of us.”
Farley also noted that it’s important to aid students in exploring careers and what is out there for their futures. This allows the students a chance to consider post-secondary education after graduation and how they might explore where they want to go in their lives.
Those who participate are encouraged to snap a photo and share it with Fairmont State University on social media on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Submitted photos have a chance to be shared on the University’s social media pages.
