Soar Awards presents $500 scholarship opportunities for future Falcons

Fairmont State University will be providing $500 scholarships to hundreds of students across the state during the Second Annual Soar Awards. Events will be held in Fairmont, Parkersburg, Winfield, Summersville, Inwood and Wheeling throughout January and February. The scholarships will help make attending Fairmont State more affordable and serve as a reminder of Fairmont State’s dedication to student success. 

With nearly 200 students receiving scholarships during the inaugural year in 2018, the program has expanded to allow more opportunities for students both in the state of West Virginia as well as out-of-state. 

The event will allow students to spend time with President Mirta Martin, a first-generation college graduate, who will speak about how college transformed her life. Students will also be able to meet with recruitment staff to answer questions about admissions or life at Fairmont State. Faculty and staff will be on hand to speak with students about their areas of interest and how Fairmont State’s robust hands-on learning experiences will prepare them for rewarding careers.
