Two Fairmont State Theatre Arts students advance to SETC Spring Professional Auditions
After 10 weeks of intense preparation Fairmont State University Theatre Arts majors Sarah Hinerman and Samantha Young will be among 18 West Virginia actors who will audition at the 2019 Southeastern Theater Conference (SETC) Spring Professional Auditions.
Under the mentorship of Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts Elizabeth Wotring-Nelson, 12 students travelled to West Liberty University to participate in the SETC Professional Screening Auditions at the annual conference for the West Virginia Theatre Association on Nov. 6.
The students were among over 120 student actors, 59 from West Virginia, who presented either a 60-second monologue, or a 90-second monologue/vocal music “package” to a panel of three professional theatre artists from around the country.
The auditions are for student, adult, and senior citizen actors who wish to participate in the Spring Professional Auditions at the annual SETC Convention but who do not yet meet all of the required professional qualifications. Those who are passed through SETC Screenings can register for and audition at the 2019 SETC Spring Professional Auditions to be held in Knoxville, Tennessee, February 28 through March 2, 2019.
Students who also participated included Justin Allan, Seret Cole, Mo Collins, Kelli Cooper, Jason Englestad, Ashley Fink, Madeline Giambi, Jaclyn Kovach, Sean Shearer, and Dino Vergura.
At last year’s Spring Professional Auditions 860 actors, singers and dancers auditioned for 3,772 roles with 70 hiring companies representing 265 theatres. This year’s convention will once again offer a one-stop shop for auditions and callbacks where performers find quality work and companies discover quality talent.
