Fairmont State Jazz Ensemble performs free concert

The Fairmont State University Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Fairmont State Alum and Fairmont native Neil L. King, will present a free concert November 28 at 7:30p.m. in Wallman Hall on the campus of Fairmont State. The event is free and open to the public. 

The jazz ensemble has been working diligently to prepare for this annual event, which will include pieces with significant historical value. This year’s concert lineup includes the music of Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Count Basie, and Lee Morgan. In addition, a few holiday classics will be performed during the event. Director of the Jazz Ensemble, Neil L. King, has played professionally with many talented musicians and orchestras including the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra, The Huntington Symphony Orchestra, Christian McBride, Benny Golson, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Bobby Vinton and says, “The concert promises to be a delight to all who attend.” The Fairmont State Jazz Ensemble is composed of students who enjoy playing jazz instruments. Audience members will be entertained with the traditional sound of jazz music as distinct jazz instruments, such as the saxophones, trombone, trumpets, and a rhythm section join together to create one of the most recognizable sounds in music. 

The Jazz Ensemble Concert is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
