Fairmont State hosted HEPC State Advisory Council of Students
Fairmont State Student Government was proud to host the Higher Education Policy Commission Student Advisory Council meeting on campus Friday.
Marshall, WVU, Mountain West Community College, West Virginia Northern Community College, and West Virginia State all accompanied the Fairmont State representatives for a productive meeting about Higher Education in the state. The universities gave campus updates and discussed successful initiatives that were occurring on their campus.
The most important outcome of the meeting was the unanimous endorsement of the $10 million Recalibration Model, which increases the state funds for all four-year institutions with the exception of WVU and Marshall, at their request. Fairmont State University will gain an additional $3.4 million if this model moves forward. The council also discussed affordable education options to make it easier for West Virginia students to gain an education.
