The Fairmont State University Department of Music is proud to present international performing artist, Dr. Ross Ahlhorn at the First Presbyterian Church in Fairmont, WV on Friday, September 14th, at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Ahlhorn will present a trumpet recital titled, “Pop Art: Intersections Between Popular, Folk, and Classical Music”, which will feature works inspired by, or directly influenced by, folk and popular music. The event is free and open to the public.

“Pop Art: Intersections Between Popular, Folk, and Classical Music” provides the audience a chance to experience and be inspired by many genres of music assembled into one show. Dr. Ahlhorn will be performing pieces arranged for trumpet and piano by Gershwin, Gottschalk, and de Falla among many others. His most recent performances include performing with the acclaimed Staunton Music Festival Orchestra in Staunton, Virginia, the Madison Brass, the Charlottesville Symphony Orchestra, the Massanutten Brass Band, and the Shenandoah-University Symphony Orchestra in Lexington, Virginia. As part of his diverse career, Dr. Ahlhorn has also performed as assistant solo cornetist in the Salt River Brass, both principal and second trumpet in the Musica Nova Orchestra of Scottsdale, Arizona.
