Innovation and student-focused culture fuels growth
As Fairmont State University prepares to begin their fall semester, President Mirta Martin announced notable institutional achievements: enrollment growth in first time students; finishing the last fiscal year $650,000 ahead of last year’s budget numbers; and residence hall occupancy at 102 percent.
In her address to University faculty and staff Martin said, “Because of your willingness to put students first; to share the story of Fairmont State in the community, to recruit prospective students in their own backyard, and to be available and accessible when students need us; we have achieved success.”
The focus now turns to welcoming the newest cast of Falcons which will officially kick-off on Thursday, August 9.
The campus community will be out in full force to welcome new and returning Falcons and their parents. Faculty, staff and students will cover the campus in maroon and white, offer new ‘Welcome Home’ tents, and host a full weekend of activities aimed at giving students the tools they need to be successful.
“As an inclusive community of scholars, teachers, mentors and learners, we want to share the transformative power of a college education. We are here because we believe in passing it forward; we believe in helping those who - through education - are looking for a better life. Our mission is to help them succeed in that quest.”
