International Women's Day - March 8
In honor of International Women’s Day, March 8, career services and the office of disability services is hosting an event on Main Street, second floor of the Falcon Center, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Student organizations, local leaders, government agencies, and business professionals plan to set up tables to display their company information and speak about their experiences and accomplishments.
International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. IWD has been observed since the early 1900's - a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.
Expected attendees include the U.S. Army, City of Fairmont, Hazelton Prison, WVDOT, UPS, Fairmont Regional Medical Center, Center for Disease Control, ResCare Group Homes. Additionally, student organizations and athletic teams will display information. The Fairmont State Dance Team and theatre department will also participate with performances.
