Emeritus Luncheon to Honor Fairmont State Class of 1966
With the theme “There’s No Place Like Fairmont,” Fairmont State University will celebrate Homecoming 2016 from Thursday, Sept. 29, through Saturday, Oct. 1. The Fairmont State Alumni Association will welcome back the Class of 1966 for their induction into the Emeritus Club.
The Fairmont State Emeritus Club Luncheon and Induction Ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, in the Falcon Center third floor conference rooms. Tickets are $15 in advance or at the door. All members of the Emeritus Club are encouraged to attend to support the new class of inductees.
“What makes this year so special is a handful of impassioned graduates who formed the Class of 1966 Reunion Committee with the goal of bringing in a large number of their former classmates to join the Homecoming celebrations,” said Interim Alumni Director Meagan Gibson.
The Reunion Committee includes Bobbi Bane Mohrman, Linda Orr Morgan and Jim Neri.
Mary Jo Thomas, a member of the Class of 1966, said she can’t believe it’s been 50 years since she and her classmates became Fairmont State alumni.
“Fairmont State has been so central in many of our lives because it gave us roots but allowed us to have wings,” Thomas said. “The college prepared us for a career and a life, and we have alumni across the world. It will be an exciting time to celebrate and honor the Class of 1966.”
