FSU Senior Class Raising Funds for Veterans Plaza on Campus
Fairmont State University Student Government Association senior class officers are working hand in hand with the Fairmont State Foundation to create a student-centered giving campaign to construct a veterans plaza on the main campus.
A plaza with flags representing the different branches of military service is proposed for the area around the traffic circle located behind the Falcon Center, near the entrance closest to the Bound for Success Bookstore on the second floor of the building.
Current FSU seniors are encouraged to donate, at any level, to this class campaign. Alumni and community members are also encouraged to donate in honor of the Class of 2016. Donations are being collected through a text-to-give platform; contributors are encouraged to text $20.16 (or any amount) to (304) 816-4034.
“I’m extremely excited to be able to take leadership on this project, but it’s not only about Student Government, the Senior Class or the FSU Foundation. This campaign is about the creation of a culture of giving on campus and about instilling the feeling of inclusion in our student veterans. I’m extremely optimistic about the fundraising, and I ask that everyone consider contributing whatever they are able. This gift will serve as a legacy to all of its successors, and I hope that the entire Fairmont State community can proudly say that we proportionally shared in its success,” said Mitch Moore, Student Government Association President.
