Women of Fairmont State and Pierpont Support HOPE, Inc.
Thanks to the generosity of a network of women helping women, gifts will help brighten the spirits of the women at HOPE, Inc., a Fairmont shelter for the victims of domestic violence and a United Way of Marion County agency.
From 4 to 6 p.m., at the Shaw House (President’s House) on the shared main campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College, women gathered for A Holiday Tea and brought gifts for women at HOPE, Inc. The event was hosted by FSU President Maria Rose; Joyce Griffin, wife of Pierpont Board of Governors Chairman Jim Griffin; and Harriet Sutton, Executive Director of HOPE, Inc.
The women of FSU and Pierpont (female faculty, staff members, alumnae, retirees, board members and their spouses or partners) were invited to attend the event and to support the United Way agency HOPE, Inc.
Because of groups like this one, every woman and child at the shelter will receive a Christmas gift. The women of HOPE are in need of items such as underwear, sleepwear, slippers, jewelry, lotions, make-up and umbrellas. Gifts should be wrapped and labeled as to their size and contents. For more information, call the HOPE hotline at (304) 367-1100.
