Department of Music Presents Handel's "Messiah"
The Fairmont State University Department of Music will present Handel’s “Messiah” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, in Colebank Hall on the FSU campus. A free pre-concert reception for ticketholders will start at 7 p.m.
A second performance is planned for 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarksburg. Both performances will feature the Fairmont State Collegiate Singers, Chamber Choir and Community Chorus, along with professional soloists and orchestra.
Handel’s “Messiah” is a perennial favorite that features many well-known musical numbers, including the famous “Hallelujah” chorus.
“We are very excited to present such a beloved work to the community,” said Dr. Sam Spears, FSU Director of Choral Activities. “So many people associate ‘Messiah’ with the holiday season, and I hope they will enjoy the opportunity to experience it in person this year.”
Tickets are $10 for the general public; $5 for senior adults and FSU faculty/staff; and free for all students. For tickets or more information, contact the Fairmont State Box Office at (304) 367-4240.
