FSU Reads Enrichment Program Begins Fall Sessions
The Fairmont State University Reads program is preparing for the fall reading enrichment program for elementary school students in kindergarten through fourth grade.
Sessions will take place on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. beginning the week of Sept. 28 and will continue through the week of Nov. 2 in Room 215 of the Turley Student Services Center on the FSU main campus. Fairmont State students serve as Reads mentors after completing an intensive training session. During the enrichment sessions, the elementary students will hear stories, play vocabulary games and complete writing/art projects. The program is presented to enhance a child’s love of reading. Although it is not a tutoring session, emphasis is placed on good reading practices. A major goal of FSU Reads is to assist children in developing self-esteem and embracing diversity.
