Student Volunteers Participate in Make Marion County Shine

More than 20 students and community volunteers participated in the Make Marion County Shine and state DEP cleanup on the Fairmont State University campus in Fairmont on Saturday, April 18.  The week also was National Volunteer Week. Organized by Stephanie Slaubaugh of the Physical Plant and Amy Drvar of the Office of Civic Engagement, the volunteers picked up 12 trash bags of litter in about two hours. The DEP Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan (REAP) donated trash bags, protective gloves and trash pickers for the volunteers. Spring Cleaning event T-shirts were donated by Jan Smith of the Op Shop in Fairmont.
