Students Attend English Honor Society National Convention
Two Fairmont State University students recently attended the annual convention for the International English honorary society, Sigma Tau Delta. As it celebrates students who excel at writing, language and literature in English, the society has the ultimate goal to nurture literacy and mastery in English.
The students, Grace Templeman and Kaylee Kirkpatrick, are both seniors majoring in English Education. At the convention in Albuquerque from March 18 to 21, they attended presentations and unique workshops covering a wide range of topics, including creative writing. They were two of approximately 1,000 students who registered to attend this conference.
“This conference is a wonderful opportunity for our students to expose their work to a wider audience and to network with like-minded folks from around the world,” said Dr. James Matthews, Associate Professor of English.
