FSU Graduate Publishes First Book of Poetry
A 2004 graduate of Fairmont State, Alicia Matheny, has published her first book of poetry, “Quicksilver: A Collection of Poems.”
Matheny has published in the poetry journals Whetstone, Ceremony, Laurels, Thick With Conviction, and The Poet’s Haven. After earning her M.A. in English at Marshall University in 2007, Matheney has taught as an adjunct at Fairmont State University and Pierpont Technical & Community College. She lives in Clarksburg.
“Quicksilver” is a collection of 32 poems, published by CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform in June 2014. Matheney’s poetry deals with subjects ranging from life to nature. She draws on her experiences and observation of life, and she uses a wide range of poetic forms such as free verse, tankas, pantoums and haikus.
