Auditions Planned for Production of "Sleepy Hollow"
The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts and Town & Gown theatre group announce open auditions for “Sleepy Hollow,” an original musical written by Jim Christian and Tom Edward Clark. The story is inspired by “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” the classic American short story written by Washington Irving. The production is directed by Francene Kirk; the music director is R.J. Nestor, and the choreographer is Susan Cato.
Auditions will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, and at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, in Room 314 (studio theatre) of Wallman Hall on the FSU campus. The auditions will take approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. To sign up for an audition date, call Casey Queen at (304) 367-4219.
Up to 30 performers will be cast. The script calls for seven men, five women, five teens (three girls, two boys), five children ages 7 to 11 and a small ensemble.
Those auditioning should be prepared to sing 16 bars from two contrasting songs. An accompanist will be provided. Those auditioning should prepare a one-minute comedic monologue that need not be memorized. Headshots and resumes are appreciated but not required. There will be a choreography audition in addition to the singing/acting audition. Previous dance experience is not necessary. Everyone auditioning should bring clothes they can move in for the choreography audition.
Rehearsals will begin on Sept. 18. The production opens Oct. 31 and runs two weekends. There will also be school day performances on the mornings of Nov. 5 and 6.
