PRSA-WV Honors FSU with Five Awards
The West Virginia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America honored Fairmont State University with five awards at its 2013 Crystal Awards Gala, which acknowledges the best public relations campaigns and projects of 2012.
During the event at Edgewood Country Club in Charleston on June 19, 17 Crystal Awards and 13 Honorable Mentions were presented for campaign work; 36 Crystal Awards and 36 Honorable Mentions were given for project work. The individual award for Young Professional of the Year was presented to Jessica Sharps, FSU Director of Publications. The award honors a public relations professional, age 30 and younger, who has exhibited outstanding work and shows great potential.
“I am so honored to have been selected,” Sharps said. “I deeply respect the public relations profession and to have received this award and been acknowledged for my hard work is just amazing.”
Tammy Holden, Director of Creative Services, received a Crystal Award for her work on the FSU Presidential Inauguration Invitation.
“Our entire staff is thrilled to have been recognized for the hard work that we do every day,” Holden said.
Lynne Conrad, Graphic Designer, received a Crystal Award for the logo she developed for Fairmont State’s student food bank, “The Nest.”
“I wanted to create a logo that was easily recognizable and established credibility,” Conrad said. “This award proves that the task was accomplished.”
Jessica Spatafore of the Office of Institutional Advancement also received a Crystal Award for her Order of La Sila Invitation.
In addition to her individual award, Sharps also received a Crystal Award for the new maroonwhite.com. In 2012, FSU’s magazine maroon&white transitioned from a print publication to an online publication. Sharps serves as editor of the online publication.
“We worked for many months on creating the new maroonwhite.com and I am thrilled to see it succeed,” said Sharps.
