Blood Drive Planned for Week of Nov. 26
The Office of Residence Life and Student Government will sponsor a Blood Drive on the shared main campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
Students, faculty and staff may register for the Blood Drive from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, in the second floor Main Street area of the Falcon Center. The drive will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, in Colebank Hall Gym.
“Central Blood Bank provides the blood supply for Fairmont General Hospital. Every unit of blood donated can help save up to three individual lives. There is no substitute for blood. Volunteer blood donors are the only source for patients in need of blood and blood products," said Stephanie McCandless, Director of Retention, Office of Student Affairs.
The entire blood donation process, from registration to refreshments, takes approximately one hour. Every step of the process follows strict procedures to ensure the safety of the donor and of the blood supply. Those donating blood should eat and drink the night before and the morning of the blood drive and should bring their driver’s license, social security card or birth certificate with them.
