High School Students to Participate in Quiz Bowl
Eight high school teams will compete in a Quiz Bowl hosted by the Education Honors Society, Kappa Delta Pi and the Honors Program at Fairmont State University at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. The event will take place in the third floor conference rooms of the Falcon Center.
Participating schools include University High (David McQuain), South Harrison (Lisa Stout), Charleston Catholic (Amy Arnold), Woodrow Wilson (Mary Jo Snow), Oak Hill (Tasha Yates) and South Charleston (David Hugart).
The Quiz Bowl competition will consist of five rounds in which the high school teams made up of four students will be asked questions on the following subjects: Social Studies, Science, English, Mathematics and Popular Culture.
“You should attend the quiz bowl to help promote scholarship and hard work in these students and to help congratulate them on their hard work throughout the semester,” said Nicole Allison, the Honors student in charge of setting up the competition.
Parents and teachers of the students competing attend, but this event is open to the public. Honors students organizing the event include Allison, Ryan Cool, Ashley Curry and Caitlin Teetor. The Quiz Bowl has taken place on FSU’s campus for the past 10 years.
