Cava Family Football Locker Room Dedicated with Ribbon Cutting
The Fairmont State University Fighting Falcons football locker room has received a much-needed facelift, and on Saturday, Oct. 13, the newly renovated Cava Family Football Locker Room was dedicated with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
“Our institution is strengthened by visionary donors, like the Cava family, who generously support our programs and enable a margin of excellence at Fairmont State,” said Dr. Maria Rose, FSU President.
Made possible by the support of James and Laura Cava and Dan and Machelle Cava, the Cava Family Locker Room has been transformed into a place where all players can comfortably meet and keep their belongings safe. The project included significant renovations to the locker room and restroom areas, installation of new flooring and new lockers, and the designation of an area for team meetings and gatherings.
“What was once just a place where players got ready for practice or games, now provides a comfortable place for players to relax and bond as a team off the playing field,” said Mike Lopez, FSU head football coach.
In addition, the renovation included two flat-screen televisions, donated by Fairmont Appliance and TV, as well as couches, an X-Box, Playstation and stereo surround-sound that makes the entire space a comfortable and desirable place for players to spend their time. Also, Repair King fabricated a sign for the football program that was installed outside the locker room and includes words of inspiration— “Pride, Purpose, Passion.”
“We are proud to have the Cava family as part of the Falcon family, and we appreciate their continued support of the football program,” said Rusty Elliott, FSU Athletic Director.
