Area Families Invited to Participate in Haunted Halls
The Office of Residence Life is hosting its fourth annual Haunted Halls event on the
shared main campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical
College from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24.
The goal is to provide a Halloween-themed activity for families and children as a
way for the students and employees of the campus residence halls to give back to the
community.
The event will feature The Haunted House of Morrow Hall featuring the theme “Happily
NEVER After: a Grimm Fairytales Adaptation;” a Trick or Treat and Frankenstein Photo
Booth on the sixth floor of Bryant Place; and a “CarnEvil” in Prichard Hall.
Activities for the “CarnEvil” will include Candy in the Jar, Donut on a Stick, Bean
Bag Toss, Duck Pond, Fishing Games, Face Painting, Cotton Candy and more. A costume
contest will begin at 8 p.m. The categories are funniest, scariest and most original.
The contest will have first-, second- and third-place winners for each category. Contest
participants may enter as a college student or community member.
“The students, staff and volunteers have really raised the bar this year. We are
so excited to see what the reaction is to our new ‘twist’ on the haunted house,” said
Jessica Cooper, Residence Director of Bryant Place. “This is one of our favorite activities
each year because we get to open our doors to the community and invite them in. During
your visit, please make sure to stop by the sixth floor lobby in Bryant Place to get
your picture taken with Frankenstein!”
Admission to the event is one non-perishable food item per family. Items will be
donated to the campus student food bank, The Nest.
