FSU Student-Athletes Rank High in Academics

Fairmont State University student-athletes posted a graduation rate of 75 percent, according to the most recent data compiled by the NCAA.

The NCAA data is based and compiled from students who were freshmen in 2004. The NCAA released two figures: the Federal Graduation Rate (FGR) and the Academic Success Rate (ASR). The FGR considers only those student-athletes who receive athletic grant-in-aid, while the ASR includes all student-athletes who participated in a sport.

Fairmont State's ASR rate was 75 percent and was the highest among public schools in the WVIAC. Fairmont State's FGR was 73 percent and was the highest FGR of any school in the WVIAC.

"We obviously take a lot of pride in having success in the classroom," said Director of Athletics Rusty Elliott. "That's simply part of the Division II student-athlete experience that we believe in. Our coaches understand that, and that means that the athletes understand it."
