Auditions Set for "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee'
Strong singers and good spellers are sought for roles in the upcoming Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.”
Acting and singing auditions will be Wednesday and Thursday, May 2 and 3, in Wallman Hall on the FSU campus. Eight roles are available for those ages 16 and older. Directed by Troy Snyder and RJ Nestor, performances will be Sept. 21-23 and 26-29 in Wallman Hall Theatre. Rehearsals may begin before the fall semester begins in August.
Those who would like to audition should prepare an up-tempo, modern musical theatre piece of 16-32 bars and a ballad of 16-32 bars (at the musical director’s discretion). For the acting audition, participants should prepare a character-driven, seriocomic monologue (serious to the speaker but perceived as humorous to the audience). Auditioners should bring headshot photos and resumes.
