Three Free Musical Performances Offered by Department of Music

The Fairmont State University Department of Music will present three free musical performances in December.
- The Fairmont State University Community Orchestra will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at Wallman Hall Theatre. Conducted by John Ashton and featuring William Skidmore on cello, the program will include the music of Felix Medelssohn, Gabriel Faure, Paul Hindemith, David Popper and Ludwig van Beethoven.
- The Fairmont State Marching Band Review will present a holiday concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Colebank Hall. Under the direction of Dr. Valarie Huffman and Matthew Schoonmaker, the program will feature musical selections including “Maroon & White,” “Alma Mater,” “Crazy Train,” “Gimme Some Lovin’ “ and “Christmas Medley.”
- The Department of Music’s Choro Band will present a combo jazz concert from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Wallman Hall Theatre. Directed by Patrick Joyce, numbers to be performed are “All Blues” by Miles Davis, “Green Dolphin Street” by Kaper/Washington, “Maiden Voyage” by Herbie Hancock, “Blues for Alice” by Charlie Parker, “500 Miles High” by Chick Corea and “Blessed Relief” by Frank Zappa. Choro Band members are Paul Brutto, piano; Josh Chaido, drums and vibraphone; Cecil Lopez, saxophone; Rachel McIntire, saxophone; Michael Robinson, drums and vibraphone; and Tristram Salisbury, bass.
