Blue Jean Ball to Benefit Newly Created Fairmont Fund

Nov 01, 2011

A new event at Fairmont State University in November offers a fun evening of sipping hot apple cider, live music, dinner, dancing and a silent auction – with proceeds benefiting students.

The Blue Jean Ball is planned for Saturday, Nov. 19, at Colebank Hall’s gym and patio. The cost to attend is $50 per person. Corporate sponsorships are available for $500, including four seats and recognition in the program. (Per IRS rules, $25 per person of each reservation fee will be tax deductible.) The evening will begin with a social hour from 5-6 p.m. Dinner and dancing will take place from 6-8 p.m., and a marshmallow roast is planned from 8-9 p.m.

Those who would like to attend are asked to RSVP by Nov. 4 by visiting www.fairmontstate.edu/alumni. Credit card payments may be made online. For more information, call (304) 367-4009.

The event is one of several initiatives being planned to support the newly created Fairmont Fund.

“I am very passionate about the Fairmont Fund because the dollars raised are put to immediate use in areas with the greatest need. I’d like to encourage all proud Falcons to come out and enjoy the evening wearing their blue jeans and blazers,” said Jessica Spatafore, Annual Fund Coordinator. “With your support, we can help Fairmont State remain on the cutting edge of education.”

The Fairmont Fund supports capital improvements and updates being made to the Fairmont State campus, in addition to student scholarships. These improvements and updates include areas such as:  classrooms, labs and equipment, technology, and distance learning/online courses.
