Parkersburg High School Takes Home Engineering and Science Trophy
Parkersburg High School earned bragging rights as the overall champions at the Fourth Annual Engineering and Science Challenge on Friday, Sept. 23. As the school with the most first place finishes, Parkersburg took home the travelling trophy and bragging rights for the year. About 350 area high school students from 12 high schools attended and the event was hosted by Fairmont State University's College of Science & Technology.
The following area high schools participated in the event: Valley High School, Grafton High School, Magnolia High School, University High School, Paden City High School, North Marion High School, Robert C. Byrd High School, South Harrison High School, Gilmer County High School, Parkersburg High School, Doddridge County High School and East Fairmont High School.
Students who attended the event participated in a wide array of hands-on challenges designed to foster critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork and to introduce potential challenges faced by scientists and engineers. The events are designed around career areas in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and provide insight to the programs offered at the College of Science & Technology.
