Milton Marathon Planned for Nov. 15 at Ruth Ann Musick Library

Nov 10, 2010

The Fairmont State University Department of Language & Literature will host its Bi-Annual Milton Marathon on Monday, Nov. 15, in the second floor student lounge of the Ruth Ann Musick Library.

The event will be an all-day reading of John Milton's masterpiece, "Paradise Lost," in its entirety. Those who attend may take turns reading aloud. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end around 8:30 p.m. (or until the end of the book).

"This is the fifth or sixth time we've held the Milton Marathon, and it's always a joy to watch people who think they don't want to read aloud begin to read, get into rhythm of the lines, and then not want to stop. Milton's re-telling of the Genesis story is one of the great epics of all time," said Dr. Donna Long, Associate Professor of English.

Refreshments will be served, and the event is free and open to the public.
