FSU Names Assistant to the President/Director of University Relations

Oct 14, 2010

Fairmont State University has named Dr. Kimberly A. Luse as Assistant to the President/Director of University Relations. She will begin her duties Tuesday, Nov. 16.

"I am confident that Dr. Kimberly Luse has the organizational skills, expertise, energy, integrity and discretion to assist in the management of the tasks and staff of the President's Office," said Dr. Tom Krepel, FSU President. "This position has been restructured to allow the person in this role to provide leadership for the university's intergovernmental relations and relationships with other postsecondary institutions and agencies. I look forward to working with Dr. Luse to help move Fairmont State forward."

Luse has served as Executive Assistant to the President for Special Projects/Secretary to the Board of Regents at Northern Kentucky University since 2004. As executive assistant to the president, Luse played a central role in assuring that the responsibilities of the Office of the President were carried out effectively and efficiently.

"I am honored to be joining Fairmont State University under the leadership of President Krepel and the team he has assembled. It is clearly an exciting time of transformation and change for FSU and I am looking forward to joining the university and community," Luse said.

As a leader in her field, Luse has also served as conference chair for the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities; chair, board member and conference chair of the National Association of Presidential Assistants in Higher Education; executive committee of the Greater Cincinnati Consortium of Colleges and Universities; and delegate of the Council on Postsecondary Education.

Prior to her employment at NKU, Luse served as manager of clinical research at Proscan Imaging, Inc. Before Proscan, she served as assistant professor in the Clinical-Advanced Medical Imaging Technology Program at the University of Cincinnati. There, she developed curriculum for MRI internships, secured clinical affiliates, taught classes in the UC College of Allied Health and Education and performed committee work at both the departmental and college levels. Luse served as cardiovascular and MRI technologist at Good Samaritan Hospital from 1993-95.

Luse earned an Ed.D. in Education Foundations from the University of Cincinnati in 2002, an M.Ed. in Executive Human Resources and Development from Xavier University in 1998, a B.S. in Radiologic Technology from NKU in 1994 and an A.S. in Radiologic Technology from NKU in 1985. Luse is also a 2001 graduate of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Northern Kentucky program.

Her community volunteer work includes service on the Board of Directors for the St. Elizabeth Medical Center Foundation, Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards Celebration Committee, American Heart Association Board, Brighton Center Board and Health Point Northern Kentucky Board.

Luse replaces Mary Jo Thomas, who has served as Interim Assistant to the President and Director of Communications since February 2010.
