Corley Named Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Aug 06, 2010

Fairmont State University has named Devanna Corley as Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement. She will begin her duties Monday, Aug. 16, and will serve until a permanent appointment to the position is made. The Office of Institutional Advancement provides services to both FSU and its sister institution, Pierpont Community & Technical College.

Corley has served as Director of Alumni Relations and Sponsorship Activities since 2007. In that role, she has managed multiple tasks including event planning and alumni board activities; developed multiple alumni organizations outside of North Central West Virginia; and has effectively launched a sponsorship program for Homecoming and other alumni hosted events.

"Devanna is already well-known in our community and has made great contributions toward the advancement of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College. Her passion and dedication and the positive relationships she has built with alumni of both institutions speak volumes," said Dr. Tom Krepel, FSU President.

"I have particularly appreciated Devanna's special efforts to locate and engage Pierpont alumni. Her energy, enthusiasm and experience will help guide Pierpont and FSU to a new level of success in our development efforts," said Dr. Doreen Larson, Pierpont President.

A 1996 graduate of Fairmont State, Corley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Management and is completing the requirements for a Masters in Business Administration at FSU.

"It is a very exciting time to be part of higher education in the state of West Virginia. I feel blessed to have an opportunity to work for my alma mater and to contribute to the success of students, faculty and fellow staff," Corley said.

"I am confident that Fairmont State and Pierpont have tremendous opportunities in the area of fundraising, and I am pleased to serve as the leader to help the institutions forge ahead. I am also excited about the opportunity to continue my work with the many volunteers who serve Fairmont State and Pierpont. Dr. Krepel and Dr. Larson have great vision and both are committed to student success. I am here to help them achieve their visions."

Corley and her husband Tony reside in Fairmont with their children Brandon and Kayla.
