Campus Visitation Day Planned for March 27

Mar 24, 2010

Fairmont State University will host a Campus Visitation Day on Saturday, March 27. The event is designed for high school students and their families and adults who are deciding where to continue their education.

"We strongly encourage those of all ages who are considering taking college classes to attend our program. Campus Visitation Day is a great opportunity to get to know us," said Steve Leadman, Director of Admissions and Recruitment. "A new feature of this event is a special track tailored specifically to adult students. We are also excited to offer an informative session for veterans looking to start or return to college."

Information about FSU's partner institutions, Pierpont Community & Technical College, will also be available. FSU and Pierpont share a main campus in Fairmont.

With an enrollment of 4,570, FSU offers more than 90 baccalaureate degrees, as well as graduate programs in business, criminal justice, education and human services. FSU offers nationally accredited programs in high-demand fields such as teacher preparation, nursing and engineering technology. Unique programs include those in national security and intelligence, folklore studies and aviation. FSU has an alumni network of more than 28,000 and has a strong track record of placing alumni in graduate and professional programs.

The event on the main campus will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 27, with registration in the Falcon Center. FSU President Thomas Krepel and Pierpont President Blair Montgomery will offer a welcome. Those attending will have the opportunity to visit with faculty representatives from each academic program and receive information on housing, student life and financial aid.  Special sessions will also be offered on the Honors Program. Tours of campus will be available throughout the afternoon and lunch will be provided free of charge for each guest.

In the afternoon, students and family members will be invited to attend one of several academic showcases highlighting programs. The West Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair will also take place that morning with poster sessions open to the public. Participants may opt to tour the Gaston Caperton Center in Clarksburg from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. or the Robert C. Byrd National Aerospace Education Center in Bridgeport from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
