Jean Ward Named Homecoming Parade Marshal
The traditional Homecoming Parade for Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College presented by Student Government will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in downtown Fairmont. The parade is sponsored by the Times West Virginian.
Student Government has selected Jean Ward, a long-time Intramurals director and faculty member at Fairmont State, as parade marshal.
Line-up for the parade will begin at 12:15 p.m. at Palatine Park. The parade is on a different day of the week this year to help build Falcon spirit for the football game at 3 p.m. Oct. 10 at Duvall-Rosier Field when the Fighting Falcons take on UNC Pembroke. The parade route will begin on East Side at Palatine Park, come down Merchant Street and across the Jefferson Street/High Level Bridge to Monroe Street and Adams Street. The parade will end near Veterans' Square.
Any marching group, organization, political candidate, community group or business interested in having a float or car in the parade should fill out a parade entry form online at www.fairmontstate.edu/homecoming or call the Office of Student Affairs at (304) 367-4643 by Friday, Oct. 2.
