Influenza A(H1N1) Update – (Formerly called Swine Flu)

May 01, 2009

Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College will continue to post updates on the international Influenza A(H1N1) situation. We have provided information on the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention update page as well as that for the World Health Organization's update page.  For that information please go to the Fairmont State Health Service link below and click on Pandemic Flu.

The Pandemic Influenza Alert level remains at 5, which means that a pandemic is imminent and that systems set in place should be finalized immediately.

There are still no cases of Influenza A(H1N1) in West Virginia as of this date.  CDC recommends that people should still use everyday preventive actions such as washing hands frequently, covering coughs/sneezes, staying home when you are sick, and avoiding close contact.
