Boggess Painting Included in Campus Art Collection
The winter landscape scene was officially accepted as part of the art collection in September and will be hung in the Falcon Center Board Room.
Boggess earned a B.A. in Art Education from Fairmont State in 1978 and an M.F.A. in Painting from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., in 1980. His awards include the 1997 West Virginia Governor's Award of Excellence in Painting, the 1999 West Virginia Visual Artist of the Year award and the 2001 West Virginia Higher Education Art Educator of the Year award.
Boggess' work has been on display for solo exhibitions this year at Tyndall Gallery, Chapel Hill, N.C., May 2008; Cooper Gallery, Lewisburg, June 2008; Brooks Gallery, Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College main campus, August 2008; The Haen Gallery, Asheville, N.C., September 2008; Joie Lassiter Gallery, Charlotte, N.C., October 2008; and Principle Gallery, Alexandria, Va., November 2008.
