Summer Band Concerts at the Fort Offered
Fairmont State University, in conjunction with Prickett's Fort State Park, is sponsoring
its second "Concerts at the Fort" summer community band concert series during the
months of May and June. Anyone who plays an instrument is welcome to join in the summer
series.
At 7 p.m. on May 22 and 29 plus June 25 and 26, anyone who can play a band instrument
can attend a rehearsal in Wallman Hall Room 229. On May 30 and June 27, the group
will perform a 7 p.m. concert at the Prickett's Fort Amphitheatre. Community members
who wish to participate should have a basic, junior-high level playing ability and
their own instrument. Arrangements may be made to borrow large instruments. Attire
will be casual but shorts are not permitted. Family members and the Fairmont community
are welcome to attend the free concerts.
"We are looking for anyone who wants to perform for fun and people who enjoy playing
fun band music," said Dr. Valarie Huffman, Director of Bands for FSU.
