Goodwin Honored with State Award
The West Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics recently named Fairmont State
University Professor of Mathematics Dr. Susan Goodwin 2008 College Mathematics Teacher
of the Year.
The announcement was made during the WVCTM annual meeting. Goodwin earned bachelor's
and master's degrees in mathematics at West Virginia University. She holds a doctorate
in mathematics education, also from WVU. Known for exposing her students to a wide
range of math manipulatives and technology, Goodwin has been involved in the West
Virginia Blue Ribbon Mathematics Partnership and the Fairmont State GEAR UP partnership.
A leader in the WVCTM, she currently serves as the organization's Vice President-College
and served as a workshop organizer for last year's TI workshop.
"Susan Goodwin is a truly outstanding educator and very deserving of this highest
award," said Jeanne Finstein, WVCTM Community Relations Chairman.
