Attend the M.M. Neely Persuasive Speaking Contest

Apr 04, 2008

The FSU School of Fine Arts and the Department of Communication and Theatre Arts invite the campus community to attend the M.M. Neely Persuasive Speaking Contest.

This event was started in 1939 at Fairmont State by the former U.S. senator and governor of West Virginia, Matthew Mansfield Neely. A most celebrated and controversial politician, Neely, who was quite adept at public speaking, saw the contest as a way to encourage students to speak up for their beliefs.

This year's contest will be held Tuesday, April 29, at 7 p.m. in Multi-Media Room A of the Ruth Ann Musick Library.

Students are encouraged to attend as a wide range of topics, applicable to many disciplines, will be presented.
