Massage Therapy Classes Offered
The Community Education program of Pierpont Community & Technical College of Fairmont
State University is providing opportunities this fall for those who are interested
in learning how massage therapy can be used to enhance their lives.
"Massage: Giving the Perfect Back Rub," will be offered Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 5:30-6:30
p.m. at the Pierpont C&TC Center for Workforce Education, 320 Adams St., Veterans'
Square, in downtown Fairmont. Participants will learn how massage therapy can be used
to help address chronic back pain and increase flexibility plus how proper posture
can reduce the risk of back injuries. Course instructor Lois Foster of Somatic Wellness
Massage Therapy said the course is recommended for anyone who is interested in maintaining
health for life. Foster will demonstrate techniques and students will also learn through
hands-on instruction. Foster is a licensed massage therapist and graduate of Garrett
College in McHenry, Md. She also studied at the Pennsylvania Institute of Massage
Therapy at Quakertown, Pa. The cost of the course is $29, single; and $39 per couple.
"Massage: Head, Neck and Shoulders," will be offered on Tuesdays, Oct. 23 and Oct.
30, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., also at the Center for Workforce Education. In this course,
Foster will offer tips and demonstrate techniques that can be used to help reduce
tension that causes headaches, neck tightness and shoulder pain. The cost of the course
is $39, single; and $49 per couple.
"Massage: Feet and Hands," will be offered on Tuesdays, Nov. 6 and Nov. 13, at the
Center for Workforce Education. The cost of the course is $39, single; and $49 per
couple.
