The Community Education program of Pierpont Community & Technical College of Fairmont State University is providing opportunities this fall for those who are interested in learning how massage therapy can be used to enhance their lives.

"Massage: Giving the Perfect Back Rub," will be offered Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Pierpont C&TC Center for Workforce Education, 320 Adams St., Veterans' Square, in downtown Fairmont. Participants will learn how massage therapy can be used to help address chronic back pain and increase flexibility plus how proper posture can reduce the risk of back injuries. Course instructor Lois Foster of Somatic Wellness Massage Therapy said the course is recommended for anyone who is interested in maintaining health for life. Foster will demonstrate techniques and students will also learn through hands-on instruction. Foster is a licensed massage therapist and graduate of Garrett College in McHenry, Md. She also studied at the Pennsylvania Institute of Massage Therapy at Quakertown, Pa. The cost of the course is $29, single; and $39 per couple.

"Massage: Head, Neck and Shoulders," will be offered on Tuesdays, Oct. 23 and Oct. 30, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., also at the Center for Workforce Education. In this course, Foster will offer tips and demonstrate techniques that can be used to help reduce tension that causes headaches, neck tightness and shoulder pain. The cost of the course is $39, single; and $49 per couple.

"Massage: Feet and Hands," will be offered on Tuesdays, Nov. 6 and Nov. 13, at the Center for Workforce Education. The cost of the course is $39, single; and $49 per couple.
